A place to call home removes a lot of the unnecessary day to day struggles which then allows us to improve ourselves. This is what we are aiming to offer veterans who have feel behind after selflessly putting themselves in harms-way to protect us. By providing them a comfortable, safe, and financially burden free environment, it gives the vets a reasonable time to take advantage of income earning resource outlets which will enable them to regain financial balance in life, thus making them independent. Along with providing a place to call home for these veterans and their families, we also provide resume writing assistance and job interview training so that our veterans can better compete and even outshine other job seekers in their field of interest. Statistics show that veterans are 50% more susceptible to becoming homeless than any other American. In the metro Atlanta area alone, homeless vets make up 21% of the homeless population of the city. 23% of the Volusia county population is homeless veterans. In both cities the homeless Vet population has risen by 3% since 2009. The data also shows that the main reasons these vets fall victim to such an existence is due to lack of programs which work with our heroes to get them integrated properly into society after they return from war. This leads to extreme poverty, which pushes the veterans into the streets and this makes it harder for them to recover and gain a normal sense of existence in society.
These are the statistics Aklipse hopes to change but we can't do it alone. Our veterans fight for all of us, let us come together and fight for them and change the statistics of those who protect and serve in our cities and overall in our nation by taking a veteran at a time off the streets and making them a productive member of society.
